The American Dental Association guidelines recommend that get your teeth professionally cleaned and examined every six months to prevent decay. Brushing and flossing are vital, but they can’t remove all the plaque and tartar from your teeth. Your best line of defense is regular dental examinations and cleanings.
Cleaning
Our hygienists will clean and polish your teeth to remove plaque and tartar. In some cases they may need to use special tools to remove tartar from areas where it has built up. Tartar is harder than bone and it can’t be removed by brushing.
During your cleaning we may recommend fluoride treatment to protect the enamel of your teeth against decay.
Examinations
Regular dental exams let us detect problems before they start. We’ll examine your teeth for cavities, damage, and early signs of decay and gum disease. We’ll also check your mouth for symptoms of oral cancer, a deadly form of cancer that kills 10,000 Americans each year.
